Nicola D'Ugo

Italian writer

THE KILLING OF THE DRIVERS

He stared straight into the hard lead of the folks
the huge crammed crowd in that surrounding hell
he found himself dead, and knew nothing of it
he wanted himself alive, but didn’t know how.
Under the white flowers with its tooth
the tiny monster called worm,
gusano, ver, verme, Wurm, or other stunted
rot from the most lonely souls
digs innocent little holes,
worldwide mazes, viaducts,
pipes, it lives on little food, callow.
But hands with triggers instead of rings
no pity have for the human
monster, for the symbol, in their madness.

gusano, ver, worm, Wurm, o altro stento
marciume delle anime più erme,
si scava fori piccoli, innocenti,
labirinti planetari, viacoli,
